Still allowed to blog? / 08.22.08, 11:53 AM
Well my year is over, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped thinking about the year. There are so many stories I’ve thought about and wish I would have blogged about while the year was going. If you want to know them you’ll just have to ask. But I do want to end my mission year blog with something I’ve been thinking about as I’ve been home for two weeks.
When I leave a place where I’ve lived or visited I start to miss it and think about all the things I’m missing or what my life would look like if I still lived there. And I’ve been doing that with Philly. I think about what I would be doing right now if I was still there or what I liked about my house, street, work site, neighbors… But I’ve been reminded a few times during these weeks that there is one place that is better than any I’ve ever been to or will ever go to. As much as I miss Philly and wish I could live there again I know I was never meant to live there forever. I was made to live with Jesus in heaven and that is my true home. Here are some words to think about that spoke to me in the last few days.
Better is one day in your courts
Better is one day in your house
Better is one day in your courts
Than thousands elsewhere
Matt Redman
All these people…agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own. If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back. But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Hebrews 11:13-16
So this is my goodbye blog to mission year and my beginning of the rest of my life.
