newsletter update / 08.22.08, 11:56 AM

(update time!!)

Location: Olympia, WA

Time Period: The month of August

Theme Music: The Heather’s

Bible Verse: Jeremiah 29:11-13
“For I know the plans that I know for you, ‘declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

Prayer Request: I ask that you would please pray for my sister. She’s has a new job in Vancouver, WA and will be moving down there soon…Please pray that everything would just fall into place. Also, I need great continuous prayer for this year in Chicago. Pray that God would just give me wisdom to deal with upcoming obstacles and also that He would help me to show love and kindness to all that I come in contact with for we are all his children…..and please pray for support raising.

Praise: I’ve been able to get in touch with my house mates in Chicago and I’m getting very excited about this year. Also, so many people have been incredible generous to me concerning donating to my fund and it really has been an amazing encouragement.

Current Events and Thoughts: August and this entire summer have been a complete blur to me. The days are dwindling faster then I ever thought they would and excitement builds in my heart everyday. It still just feels so surreal to me that I’ll be moving to Chicago for the next year. God really does know the plans He has for us and I am eager to see where it is He will take me and what He has to teach me. This week I found out that I’ll be living with the North Lawndale team with 5 other amazing people which includes Ruth Will, Tiffany Shreve, Stephen Baker, Phillip Roe, Kristen Wood. I ask that you would please keep these people in your prayers as well. The North Lawndale community is located on the west side of Chicago and is predominantly African American. I do not have an address yet but will soon and will give it to anyone who would like to send me a letter!. Right now we’re just trying to get things together and figure out who is going to bring what. I’m not sure of the organization that I’ll be working with yet but I’m pretty sure we find that out when we get there. So, as for now I’m just trying to get things in order for Mission year and spending the last few weeks with my family… Writing this newsletter is getting me even more excited!!!

Funny moment: Umm…Ok. So, I was walking down the street with a friend of mine and he started to read some of the stuff that had gotten carved into the pavement…. as he was walking he did not notice the parking meter planted directly in front of him which consequently wound up in a head on collision with his gut which resounded in a loud “thud’. The poor guy tried to walk it off like nothing had happened but I’m pretty sure my laughing prevented that….ah, good times.
