What actually matters / May 9, 02:42 PM

So, Sarah has recently been hanging out a lot with one of our guests at Breakthrough, because she is moving on soon. So some of the typical things that we do at Mission Year have become secondary to her friend. Sarah explains it this way (I’m quoting, but this isn’t exact at all), “I know that I’ll regret not doing this later. What’s really more important?” And she’s right. Don’t get me wrong; Mission Year rules and guidelines are good and should be followed. But let’s not get too strict here. Mission Year says that one of our primary purposes is to build relationships. When this year is over, is she going to remember that she always got her curriculum reading done on time (which she does), or that when her friend needed her she was there?
I love the people that I have gotten to know, and I hope that when my year is over, I can look back and remember all the good times that we had instead of all the times where I did something else and forgot just how important loving and living with others is. Holla.

  1. Dude, that’s cool. That’s interesting because we just read about Mary in Martha in the curriculum. Good stuff.
