It’s finally warming up in most parts of the country and the end of the school year is slowly coming upon us. At Mission Year the changing of winter into spring is reason to celebrate! The days are longer, people are coming out of hibernation and there is new energy to pour into relationships that our team members having been forming since they arrived. Everyone has a few more weeks until their public schools go on Spring Break which gives our team members a much needed rest to gear up for the exciting time that we call the third trimester. This is the perfect time to get your Mission Year application in and start the process so you can have an answer when everyone asks you what you’re plans are for next year. Application Deadlines
There are a few deadlines to keep in mind while getting ready to submit your Mission Year application. First, if you want to be considered for early placement you must have everything (application and references) in by March 27. If knowing what city you’ll be in next fall isn’t that important to you, you still need to have your application and references in by July 1st! Apply Now!
One Day Gatherings
There is still time to register for our One Day Gatherings in Philadelphia (March 28) and Chicago (April 18).
You’ll get a first hand look into what your Mission Year will look like! Hear the vision of Mission Year from President Leroy Barber, interact with Mission Year staff, alumni, and current Team Members. You’ll be able to tour a Mission Year neighborhood and meet other young adults who have applied to or are considering Mission Year. Register at http://www.missionyear.org/oneday.
The Original Event
Mission Year’s Alternative Spring Break – Original: Houston is in full swing! We have teams of young adults serving the hurricane-stricken areas of Galveston and Houston over the next two weeks. Follow their experiences through video blogs at www.orginialcity.org.
Academic Options
Are you debating between service and furthering your education next year? Maybe you can do both! We have several academic opportunities available for our Mission Year team members. For undergraduate students in good standing with an accredited college/university you can earn up to 12 credits to be transferred to your school simply for doing Mission Year! For those who have finished their Bachelors Degree and are looking to complete a Master’s Degree we have options for you too complete with community living, enhanced practical experience, and a tuition grant!
