Love God. Love People. Nothing Else Matters.

Why I’m Doing Mission Year: Jelenny Martinez

Posted on: September 13th, 2017 by Ashleigh

I have thought about why I’m doing Mission Year nearly everyday since I committed to the program several months ago. On my application I wrote about me wanting to get out of my comfort zone and grow from God using me to do good works. And that is still true. Like most people, it took time, detours, and even closed doors for me to walk into what God has called me to do. As a result, I developed personal values which align with the Mission Year program values, and I felt convicted of my need to love people much more. Therefore, I expect to live out what I believe while learning how to love my neighbors as I love myself. Moving across the country to a city I never been to and living with people I never met and doing things that I might not have done before is going to surely be an adventure. I personally like adventure so I’m looking forward to it all. I know that Jesus is waiting for me in Houston and that in the end, it’s all about glorifying Him.

“All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.” – 2 Corinthians 4:15 NLT
